Training of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel, creation of conditions for productive scientific activity of young scientists is one of the main tasks of the university in the field of science. Since 1993, a postgraduate course has been functioning at the university.

The University sees the main task of postgraduate education in its effectiveness. In 1996 were the first graduates. More than 70 dissertations defended during these years. The management of the higher education institution is planning a number of measures in order to increase the efficiency of training postgraduate students. Including increasing the efficiency of postgraduate students' scientific research: 

  • increasing the share of researchers with experience in scientific research and practical work;
  • to attract leading scientists of the university to the management of graduate students;
  • increase the demand for the leadership of graduate students;
  • give lectures on the methodology of scientific research, etc.

Particular attention paid to the approval of theses topics and their compliance with the scientific subject of the university, the relevance of scientific research for practice.

In recent years, there has been a tendency to renew relations with the CIS countries in the field of training of scientific and pedagogical personnel. In accordance with international agreements in the field of science, the teachers of our university receive their postgraduate education at the central universities of Russia, which have historically large scientific schools. Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, etc. actively participate in the implementation of research projects funded by external sources, they receive the main scientific results and test works on the topic of the dissertation.

In order to interest post-graduate students and researchers in materially and morally, and to approbate the results of scientific work, the University organized the publication of the annual Young Scientists Bulletin, opened a computer room with free access to global information resources via the Internet. Today, more than 131 graduate students are studying at the university on a budgetary and contractual basis. Post-graduate students are training in 36 specialties of scientific fields. In the last 3 years, there have been many admissions to postgraduate studies. There is a tendency to favor dissertations by post-graduate students and university researchers.

Doctoral studies and postgraduate studies are the main form of training of highly qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel in the post-university professional education system. The vice-rector for science of KSU named after I. Arabaev carries out the general management of these works. The post-graduate department carries out direct operational management. Training of doctoral students, post-graduate students and candidates for the degree of candidate of science is carrying out in accordance with the current nomenclature of the specialties of scientists.

All stages of training of doctoral students (admission to doctoral studies, appointment of scientific consultants, decision on graduation and dismissal from doctoral studies, etc.) are carrying out by order of the rector of KSU. All stages of preparation of graduate students (admission, passing entrance exams, admission to graduate school, appointment of scientific supervisors, organization of classes for candidate minimum, appointment of commissions for passing candidate exams, admission to exams, decision on graduation, teaching and deduction from graduate school, etc. .) prepared according to the order of the rector (vice-rector for science) of KSU and postgraduate department.

The post-graduate department of KSU named after I. Arabaev reports on its activities in the prescribed manner and submits the report materials to the rector, the vice-rector for science, the Council of Scientists of KSU.
