In 2025, the Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabaev celebrates its 80th anniversary. Founded in 1945 as a women’s pedagogical college, today it has become one of the leading universities in the country.

The university’s main goal is to provide high-quality education that meets modern standards. The university includes 12 institutes, 5 faculties and a college. Over 20,000 students study here and more than 1,000 highly qualified teachers work at the university, including 57 Doctors of Science and over 300 Candidates of Science.

International recognition and development:

            •           Ranked second among Kyrgyz universities in the global GreenMetric environmental ranking;

            •           Active participation in international projects, including Erasmus+ EPIC;

            •           Faculty research is published in Scopus and Web of Science, as well as in prestigious international journals;

            •           More than 100 international agreements with universities in other countries;

            •           The academic mobility program allows students to study abroad.

Building the future today:

            •           New academic buildings and educational projects are planned for 2025–2026;

            •           The range of programs is expanding — medical, legal, and IT fields are actively developing, while teacher education remains a top priority.

The university offers education at all levels — bachelor’s, master’s, postgraduate and PhD. Bachelor’s degree graduates are provided with opportunities to continue their studies at the master’s level. Full-time students from socially vulnerable groups receive benefits and support.

A user-friendly information portal has been created for applicants: the university’s website, www.arabaevksu.edu.kg, contains up-to-date information on programs, admission rules and student life. Openness and accessibility of information are key principles of the university.

The university was awarded the “Dank” Order (2022) and the international “Quality Choice Prize” from the European Society for Quality Research.
